Pousada Terra Nostra

The owners were incredibly kind. Sr. Tommas, the 86-year-old patriarch, was so polite, and it was a privilege to hear his stories about coming from Italy with his family when he was young. We hadn’t planned ahead and stayed just one night. We arrived close to 11 pm, and it was very dark, but the owner welcomed us right away and was very friendly. The temperature felt like 3 degrees that day, maybe even colder, and she brought us dozens of blankets. We paid 500 reais for a room for four, with two single beds and one double. The beds were simple but clean. Checkout was at noon. There’s no breakfast or lunch at the inn. There’s a breakfast partnership elsewhere for 25 reais, but it was at 8 am, and we couldn’t get out from under the covers. A microwave in the room would be useful. It’s a good place to sleep before heading out early to nearby towns.

The hostess was attentive, helpful, and courteous, and the atmosphere felt welcoming and family-like. It’s a simple but very cozy place that’s good for resting. There’s also the Terra Nostra story, with roots in Italian immigration.

We stayed for two days, arriving Saturday and leaving Monday, 31.12.18. The setting is beautiful, with mountain weather, a lovely forest reserve, and the feel of a region shaped by Italian settlement. The comfortable accommodations were clean and made a great fit with the natural surroundings. We also loved the open-air pool and its view of the hills. Breakfast was delicious, made even nicer by the kindness we received. senhor Antonio needs no praise from me, his wife was very attentive, and the cook was polite and always smiling. Thanks to everyone for making our stay so enjoyable. We’ll be back soon.

The quiet here is a real plus, and the price is very good. Terra Nostra is comfortable and very clean, with cozy rooms and a lovely breakfast made with care. The owners handle reception themselves, welcome you warmly, and offer tips on places to visit in town. It’s well worth staying here.
