Fortaleza Hotel

The place feels stuck in time and needs general maintenance. There were visible flaws in the paint, floor, and other areas. In my room, the bathroom was tiny, with no shower enclosure or even a plastic curtain, so everything got wet. There was no electric shower, though the city is hot enough that you don't always need one. The air conditioner didn't cool enough, and when it rained overnight, water dripped onto my daughter's bed. Some of the staff were friendly, and the internet was very good. The room had a Smart TV, and they accept dogs. The value only makes sense if you need to stay near the center with pets. In reply: I don't know who told you I booked a room for three and stayed with six. That's completely WRONG. There were two adults, a 7-year-old, and a 2-year-old toddler, plus my two dogs. Is that what you're counting? Also, I did try talking to your staff. I asked for two towels because there were only two in the room. The attendant said they could give me just one more because the room was for three and a fourth towel wasn't included. That's the service I received.

The room I got was pretty bad. The fan was so loud it sounded like a helicopter about to take off. Breakfast was good, but took forever to be ready, and the staff seemed distracted. Booking also took a while at check-in because of the hotel's computerized system, which seemed very buggy and got in the way more than it helped. I had to show proof of payment at check-in even though I'd already paid to reserve. The price was cheap, but I've stayed at better places with better service for less. I'd only recommend it if the hotel's location really matters to you.

The breakfast was wonderful, with a varied menu that even included cheese and ham. The staff will make fried eggs and tapioca pancakes fresh if you want. They were also kind and helped me with what I needed. The room had a minibar, internet TV, a private bathroom, a bed with a new mattress, a study desk, hangers, and air conditioning. The hotel is well located for getting to tourist attractions. I had an incredible stay!

The place itself is good, but they need to be clearer about early check-in. The site says it's arranged based on arrival time, and the hotel told me the same thing when I messaged before my stay. I arrived at 5:30 and was charged an extra night's rate because I came early. When I asked whether waiting a bit before entering the room would lower the early check-in charge, the receptionist said the amount was the same no matter what time I arrived. Either she gave me wrong information, or the hotel is careless about explaining its policy. What is the cutoff for deciding whether you need to rent the night you arrive or pay for early check-in? Are there time-based categories? Why call it early check-in if the charge is another night's rate? The information needs to be clearer. The place is great otherwise, and fixing this could help it grow. Best wishes!
