Hotel Philipp

I booked this hotel, but when I got there I found it on a steep hill beside a ravine. Everything was old and uncared for. It wasn’t just basic, it was run-down. There were mosquitoes everywhere, and the area felt deserted and unsafe. The photos don’t match the place. We decided not to stay. I asked them to waive the cancellation fee, but they wouldn’t, so I lost 150.00. Stay away. I should have checked the many other reviews first. Don’t be fooled.

A quiet hotel with a beautiful view and good service. It could use some renovations, but that doesn’t take away from the welcome. I’d recommend it to people looking for rest rather than luxury. Note that parking is actually right outside the door.

The hotel is lovely inside as well, and we were very comfortable. It’s close to nature, and breakfast comes with a view of Dedo de Deus. I loved our stay, a ten out of ten, and I’d definitely return.

The owner does everything he can to please guests, and that’s a shame because he seems like a hardworking professional in the wrong place. I wouldn’t return or recommend it. The place is extremely basic and very old, with no real comfort. The bed was uncomfortable, the TV was poor, and there was no fan or other climate control. The bedding was awful, and the room didn’t feel clean at all. There were mosquitoes around the lights and moths everywhere, exposed wiring, and a tiny bathroom. Breakfast was basic, just bread, cheese, ham, and thin slices of cake, all served at the table. I slept badly because it felt like I was lying in something that hadn’t been cleaned.
