Hotel Pousada Oceano

Great stuff.

The first room had a strong mold smell, peeling walls, unusable wardrobes, and a broken air conditioner. We were moved to another room, but it had only been superficially cleaned, and the bed linens were dingy and didn’t smell clean. When we lifted the bedspreads, every bed was covered in ants. Moving them away from the wall revealed ant nests throughout the room. The employee saw the problem and brought poison and a broom, but we had to clean and spray the room ourselves to be able to sleep. I still woke up with several bites. The next day, we smelled something burning from the breaker box opposite our room, which worried us a lot. When I reported it, the owner, Talita Raupp, mocked me, saying, “Oh, this is the ant woman,” and treated us with ridicule, arrogance, and verbal aggression. She interrupted me and laughed in a deeply disrespectful way. The staff, by contrast, were very polite and helpful. The problem was entirely the owner’s conduct, which is completely unsuitable for a lodging business. I’d never been through anything like it and could hardly believe what was happening. We stayed because it was year-end, the city was full, and we had already paid in full. We didn’t let it ruin our children’s vacation, but I regret not filing a police report against this woman right away. I have to warn others, since other comments here suggest this disrespectful behavior is habitual for her. The photos on Instagram and the booking channels are misleading. The rooms look nothing like what’s advertised, with poor construction, bad upkeep, and a much worse appearance. On arrival we learned the parking was two blocks away, and we had to collect and return a remote at reception. That wasn’t mentioned in the booking, but we let it go. We’ve stayed in all kinds of hotels, from ordinary to luxurious, in several states and countries. We’re a simple family and only expect cleanliness and decent service, and we didn’t even get that here. There’s a lack of maintenance, cleanliness, and above all, respect for guests. We don’t recommend it.

I liked the hotel itself. The rooms are great, and breakfast has a good variety. The big hassle is that the garage is two blocks away, and they don’t mention it when you book. There’s only one parking remote, so you have to get it at reception, go fetch the car, then bring it back to the hotel. We got stuck in the garage more than once because other guests parked behind us. Going back and forth every day is such a pain.
