Aldeias Guajiru Apart

We stayed over New Year’s, and the price was so high that I’m not sure the stay was worth it. I don’t know what it costs at other times of year. The apartment had two bedrooms, but only one fan between them, and there was no air conditioning in the room I used. It got very hot, the lighting was dim, and there weren’t many outlets. Luckily, the owner was very helpful and brought us another fan. I liked the owners, who were really nice, and breakfast was good too. For what we paid, though, I expected at least a pool and air conditioning.

Terrible. The power and internet kept cutting out. The fan room was uncomfortable, one mattress was black with dirt and old, the bed cover was net-like fabric, the floor was old red cement, and the lighting was poor. Other rooms looked a little better. I canceled my stay and still had to pay a cancellation fee after all that disappointment. The staff were polite and friendly, but the place itself, Desculpaí, only gets one star because zero wasn’t an option.

The place itself really is beautiful, and the people were welcoming, but our stay was a bad experience. I was there with my husband and son, along with friends and their two children. We arrived on Monday at noon and had separate rooms. Around 8 the next morning, rain flooded my room. I asked them to call the owner, but she took two hours to come speak with me. She said she was waiting for the daily rental period to end. While I was looking for her, I found her chatting with friends, and one of them even joked, “Go to work.” She offered to move me to another room, but only for two hours. When I asked if she could refund at least half, she said she couldn’t because the rain wasn’t her fault. Of course she can’t control the rain, but she is responsible for the condition of the property. If this had happened in the middle of the night, how would anyone have moved? She had already taken two hours to come talk to us. One staff member looked uncomfortable and said the owner’s mother was sick and she had gone to bathe her. But when I went back after two hours, the owner was still chatting with friends in a storage area. It felt like complete disregard. She didn’t even ask whether anything had been damaged. I’ll look into my rights, I suppose. Such a wonderful place, but our experience there was really poor.

Seu Antônio and Dona Maria make you feel like part of the family. The staff are cheerful and treat you with warmth and respect, too. This was the first pousada to open in Guajiru, and it still welcomes everyone who needs a place to stay. It’s close to the beach, the rooms are very comfortable, and breakfast is delicious. Highly recommend!
