In December 2019 I got to experience Trancoso, with its surreal vibe and sense of peace. Hostel Balaio felt just as special. I was lucky enough to spend Christmas with this family, and it's hard to describe how much it meant to me. It was my peaceful place in town. Guto, the owner, is a truly special person, and I'm grateful for everything he did, the lovely lively evenings, and all the love and welcome from the staff and guests. The house is beautiful, cozy, organized, and close to everything. If you're arriving with an open heart, ready for lots of love and to meet wonderful people, stay at Balaio. It could be the best experience of your life.

I loved the snacks, with creative flavors at reasonable prices, and thought the idea was great. We came back, unfortunately, and tried the vegan burger. We didn't like it, though the other ones were wonderful. What a shame.

There's a real feeling of community here, and it's a relaxed place to spend time. The Bistrô also opens on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, with the best vibe in Trancoso. So much love here!

Wonderful and cozy. Guto and Calu are thoughtful in every detail, from their warmth and courtesy to the care they show all the guests. I'll be back soon!
