The tables were dirty and nobody cleaned them, which added to an already awful visit. We came as six adults, a baby, and a seven-year-old. We had planned to pay for both a bungalow and a sun lounger, but were told we couldn't, and no towels were offered. Whinderson, one of the waiters, said we had to choose the bungalow or the chairs, which weren't even loungers. Another waiter then said we could pay for both, but the manager said no. My British husband was visiting Brazil for the first time, and I had hoped to give my family a wonderful trip. Instead, this was a real disappointment. No one spoke English and there was no English menu. If customers have no say in this, the hotel should be for guests only. A shame.

We couldn't have a proper conversation on the beach because the music kept getting turned up so loud. Even after we asked for it to be brought back down to at least its original level, it was still overwhelming.

The staff, from the front desk to the landscapers, were genuinely friendly, and the pool service was attentive. I travel for work and pleasure throughout the year and have stayed at hotels around the world, so I have a good sense of what I look for. Estrela d'Agua had everything I wanted: clean rooms, very comfortable beds and sheets, and the private pool room I was hoping to find. The breakfast and main pool areas look out over the ocean, and the hotel is right on the beach. It was also an easy four-minute drive to the town center for dinner or drinks. Last time I stayed in town so I could walk back after the nightlife, but this was hands down my favorite hotel in Trancoso so far. Nothing negative to say, and no suggestions for improvement. I highly recommend Estrela d'Agua.

A lovely, uncrowded spot right on the beach where you can relax for the day. The waves are good for body surfing too.
