Pousada El Gordo

The view made waking up each morning something special, and we had wonderful sunny days here. Our room was spacious, and breakfast was amazing. We also liked the restaurant food, especially the risottos and desserts. Everyone was so kind to our kids. Couldn’t have asked for more. Thank you 🙏🏻

My wife, our two kids, and I had a fantastic time at Elgordo. We started with really good ceviche and scallops with tutano, then had fantastic lobster with truffled linguine. The staff were helpful with the kids’ menu. 5/5.

The duck croquettes were excellent, and the setting is beautiful. The rest of the meal was just average, though, and I’d expected a lot more from the restaurant. It’s a better place for drinks than for food.

I went on a recommendation and left very disappointed. The risotto with linguica duck was awful, and I found something in the dish that wasn’t food. The waiter and chef brushed off my concern. Service was poor too: the servers seemed not to care whether I wanted coffee or dessert after a mediocre dinner. I waited a long time before anyone came over, as if doing me a favor, to notice I was finished and ready to pay. It’s overpriced and overhyped. For the same money I can eat at excellent restaurants in Sao Paulo. Do yourself a favor and have dinner at Villas de Trancoso. I’m never going back to El Gordo restaurant. 😡
