Hotel Nacional Inn Ubatuba - Praia das Toninhas

The grounds were well kept, the service was great, and the location and breakfast were both lovely. The beach wasn't crowded, and there were chairs and an umbrella available. It felt worth every penny, and the rest of the stay was very nice. The one snag was that I found it hard to reach them by phone.

My wife, our six-year-old daughter, and I booked an oceanfront room at [Nacional Inn Ubatuba expecting a relaxing trip, but a serious safety incident spoiled it. At about 11:30 PM, while our daughter was asleep, my wife heard a loud pop in the bathroom. She stepped into the dark hallway and cut her foot on glass from a shattered door between the hallway and bathroom. The door had apparently exploded because of a faulty hinge, leaving glass across both areas. That was a major hazard, especially with a child there. I can't imagine what might have happened if our daughter had walked to the bathroom. I told reception, and staff took 30 minutes to clear away two buckets of glass. While they were cleaning, we also saw a cockroach. They moved us to a nearby room with a smaller bed, which disrupted the night. Management never apologized or checked on my wife's injury. At checkout they acknowledged that this “sometimes happens,” but after a 20-30 minute call with their off-site financial department, they offered only a $160 Real discount, despite our expenses, including an expensive dinner the night before. The way this was handled left us feeling dismissed and undervalued. This kind of negligence is unacceptable. The hotel should replace the dangerous doors and do better with cleanliness and guest care. It was a traumatic experience, and I strongly advise travelers, especially families, to choose somewhere safer.

The view from our room was stunning, and the hotel's infrastructure was nice. Throughout the days we stayed, the staff were always ready to help with anything we needed.

The beach kiosk was great, and all the workers were really friendly. The hotel itself was beautiful, right by a private beach, and I have nothing to complain about.
