There was no doorman at the condominium. It rained overnight and flooded the garage and the street in front, and water got into every car. There were no signs warning about the flooding, and no maintenance to prevent it. Avoid this condominium. There are plenty of other options for the same price.

The drainage pump wasn’t working, and there was no one available to answer or help when we needed them. Around 3 a.m., I woke up to use the bathroom and saw that the street outside was completely flooded, while the other streets looked normal despite the steady rain. We woke everyone and went down to the garage. Water had reached the car door handles, and a few minutes later a strong kerosene or fuel smell came up from the garage and filled the first floor where my family and I were staying. It was so bad it made me nauseous. We had to wade through cold, dirty water mixed with kerosene and push the car up to the ramp, the only higher spot in the garage. The street water dropped a little, but the garage stayed flooded. The building had no working way to drain it and no one to guide us. The building manager arrived after 5:30 a.m., apparently already aware of what was happening, and started trying to sort things out. We waited there, stranded, then decided we had to get out. Our stay was supposed to continue until the next day, but we left in a rush and left some things behind. We couldn’t stay another minute. Someone got stuck in the elevator after going down without knowing what was happening. With the electricity still on in the flooded building, the risk of fire or electric shock was frightening. I’ve been coming to Ubatuba since I was a child and have been through plenty of rain, but I’ve never seen a whole garage fill with water mixed with kerosene. This was completely out of the ordinary and unacceptable. There were other problems too. The pool was cold and completely exposed to the surrounding buildings, with no privacy. There’s no 24-hour front desk, so the place is left unattended at night. Recreation closes at 6:50 p.m. because the doorman has to leave. Several times, drunk people tried to get into our first-floor balcony without a key and asked us to let them in. The manager doesn’t answer calls in the middle of the night during emergencies, though I can understand that a tourist building ought to have 24-hour staff. Guests get no warning that the drainage pump is faulty and the garage can turn into an aquarium. And the wristband has to stay on for the whole stay, even to shower or go to the beach, with no free replacement if you need to change it. It was dangerous, chaotic, and literally toxic. One of the worst stays I’ve had. I wouldn’t recommend this building to anyone.

Madagascar is a high-quality, secure condo, with checks at the front desk. The leisure area has a sauna, pool, and game room, plus a gym that’s still planned for the future. There are two four-story towers with underground parking. The apartments have three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a balcony with a gourmet area, and a living room joined to the kitchen. Each unit comes with one parking space. It has everything you need for a dream trip.
