Pousada Vista Dell Mar

Unfortunately, I can’t give a good account of our stay. I don’t like writing about experiences like this, but the way it happened makes me want to warn others in case it happens again. We were traveling from MS and, when we reached Caraguatatuba, we checked Booking for hotels. Pousada Vista Dell Mar showed two rooms available for arrival between 2 p.m. and midnight. I have screenshots of that information. We made the reservation and immediately received confirmation, so we continued on to Ubatuba. We arrived around 11:35 p.m., with 25 minutes left in the stated check-in window. There was nobody to welcome us and nobody answered WhatsApp or the phone. We knew it was late, but the booking had been confirmed around 10:30 p.m., and the listing said we could arrive until midnight. At 12:05 a.m., the pousada sent a curt message saying there was no 24-hour reception, Booking hadn’t charged me, and good night. That was all. I politely pointed out that the booking said we could check in and asked them to remove that information. They replied only, “Good night.” No apology or explanation. We ended up driving around until 3 a.m., going from pousada to pousada trying to find somewhere to sleep, and everywhere was full. Because of the late hour, we paid much more at the desk. It was a huge ordeal, and we felt badly treated and cheated. Please remove the stated check-in time. If the pousada doesn’t have 24-hour reception, then at least don’t confirm a reservation at 10:15 p.m. Other pousada owners nearby thought the confirmation was outrageous too. We had really wanted to see the place and liked the photos, but I wouldn’t wish the way we were treated on anyone. I never got a response to my request on WhatsApp, so I’m writing here. The breakfast is incredible, and the atmosphere feels very family-friendly. The owners and staff are always kind, and everything is impeccably clean and well organized. The pousada is close to the beach and has one of the most beautiful views of it I’ve ever seen, though it sits up a hill that can be tiring to walk up. It’s easy to get around and order food. There are little stairways between the areas, so take care going down. I highly recommend it.

Lindsay and Eduardo are wonderful people, more than just hosts. Every detail at the pousada feels thought through, from arrival and the room to breakfast and their tips on beaches, restaurants, and cafes. They make you feel at home. This was our second visit, and we’re already sure we’ll be back for a third next month. If there were more stars to give, I’d give them all. Thanks for everything, we’ll be back soon.
