Vila Betânia

The main draw is being surrounded by Atlantic Forest. You hear birds and wind moving through the trees, and guests can come and go freely at any hour, which is handy if you’re going out at night. The house itself is simple and works well for a couple. The kitchen utensils are basic and not especially practical, though they do the job, and Jan had told us about that ahead of time. Praia do Estaleiro is 2km away, an easy walk that crosses the highway, so take extra care. The route to Estaleiro has very little lighting at night. Ubatumirim is a 10min drive and Praia da Almada is 20min by car. There’s a grocery store 1.5km away, with a place next door that serves meals and delivers.

We were warmly welcomed by the owner. It’s a cozy, family-friendly place set in nature, very quiet, and close to Praia do Estaleiro. I recommend it.

The beaches nearby, Fazenda and Estaleiro, are beautiful, flat, easy to reach, and have calm water. In July they were nearly empty. The little houses are simple but comfortable and equipped, with enough privacy for a family. It’s a very peaceful spot for anyone wanting to avoid crowds and be close to nature.
