Casa Morro Do Moreno

The setting at casa morro do Moreno was so laid-back, right at the foot of a jungle-covered hill. I enjoyed relaxing in the hammocks, and the breakfast was great.

The prices are very reasonable, and Valencia, the owner and operator, is a dear. She's warm and friendly and makes you feel at home.

The people I met were the best, and the place was awesome!

The bathrooms weren't very clean. From the start, things felt stressful: I had told the property through Booking that I'd arrive late, and they accepted the reservation knowing that, but kept messaging me about reception closing at 11 pm while I was already on the bus. That was out of my hands and didn't need to cause extra stress. When I arrived, the staff weren't welcoming or helpful. My bus the next day left late in the evening, so I asked for a late check-out. They wanted to charge me for a full extra night. I then asked whether I could leave my luggage for a few hours, but that also came with an extra fee that had to be paid upfront right away. After paying to store my bags, I asked if I could return before the bus for a quick shower. They said no because new guests were coming, even though the room I had used still showed as available and the hostel seemed nearly empty. The showers are shared, and there are public showers near the pool, so the refusal felt unnecessary and unreasonable. The place seemed more interested in extra charges and excuses than in helping with simple, reasonable requests. The staff didn't try to find a solution and weren't accommodating. I wouldn't stay again, and would suggest looking elsewhere.
