Hotel Marlin Azul

Really great!

The breakfast was very limited, with no refills. Once something ran out, that was it, and if you arrived after 7 a.m. you got the leftovers. The room wasn't cleaned for two days, and the blankets smelled unbearably dirty and were torn. The shower drain was clogged, so dirty water pooled over my feet. It was disgusting. The water was discolored too, and staff said they use well water. The showers had a layer of grime, which made it seem like there was no proper cleaning or preventive maintenance. I asked to change rooms because of the clogged drain, but that only happened two days later. I also asked for a refund, and the manager refused. The manager wasn't on site, and staff said they couldn't give guests his contact details or they would be fired. Bruna, the night receptionist, was the only one who showed empathy and tried to help, but she said she couldn't do anything because she was working out her notice. I got her résumé so she can work at the company I provide services for in Itaparica. This was the worst hotel experience of my life. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Terrible, terrible, a thousand times terrible.

I had to leave after just one day and find another hotel in an emergency so my vacation wouldn't be ruined. The place felt amateurish and improvised, and the manager seemed to be either invisible or nonexistent. The room for my three children had one bed squeezed into the entrance corridor. In our double room there was only a single blanket, and when I asked at the front desk for another, they said they had none. The bathrooms stank and the drain was blocked. The tap water was yellow, the Wi-Fi didn't work, the air conditioner was extremely noisy, and the minibar looked like it was from another century. Breakfast was the most basic I've ever seen. There wasn't even pão de queijo, the scrambled eggs looked spoiled and were burnt, and they said all the milk had gone sour. The staff seemed either angry or spaced out. The daytime receptionist was a teenager, and the beginner on the night shift seemed scared of everything. Calling this a hotel would be disrespectful to the word.

The staff were attentive, and I was treated really well. Breakfast surprised me most, with a wide and varied selection and nothing to complain about. I stayed from 28 Feb to 01/03/26, and unlike the reviews I'd read, the hotel delivered what it promised. It's good value and very close to the beach, with a garage, pool, and churrasqueira. Room 301 was spotless and smelled fresh, with a sea view from the balcony. The bathroom was clean and fresh too, and there was a blanket. You can go without worrying.
