Royal Palm Hotel

We were in town to play at a wedding, and the team made things easy from check-in right through checkout. Everyone was incredibly friendly and accommodating, and our room was clean and comfortable. The central location is handy too, with several restaurants within walking distance.

I was on the island for work and hadn't chosen the hotel myself. The staff were kind and quick to respond, but the room was a letdown: a rock-hard bed, scratchy sheets, lumpy pillows, and barely any shower pressure. The place looks like its best days were back in 1992. If all you need is something cheap, you'll be okay. Expect luxury or comfort and you'll be disappointed.

Royal Palm is centrally located, with a convenience store, the island's only ATM, and a liquor store less than five minutes away on foot. The grounds are maintained about as you'd expect for the price, and most staff we met were very friendly despite us being locals. I was surprised by that and commend Royal Palm staff for treating us like paying guests. The general manager was down to earth and accommodating, and said we could contact him with any issues. Our basic room had an upgrade in bed size and was very clean, which mattered most to us, but the furniture was clearly worn and the bathroom fixtures rusty. There seemed to be a covered-over old shower drain beneath the bathroom rug after a remodel. Stepping out of the shower onto the rug and feeling a hole under it was unpleasant. The vinyl bathroom floor also had air pockets forming underneath. I'm not sure whether the old drain was the only cause of a faint sewerage smell. It was mild when we visited, and keeping the bathroom door closed could help. The lower-tier rooms don't have a microwave. Ours did have a very spacious closet, a mini-refrigerator, and a 32-inch wall-mounted TV with a working Amazon Fire Stick. The friendly staff and budget price are the strengths. The old furniture, fixtures, and plumbing are the drawbacks. Fine if you're on a budget and only plan to sleep in the room.

Lights kept going out all night, so we couldn't use our phones or television, and there was no water to flush the toilets or wash our hands. The rooms were nasty, loud, and disruptive. This was the worst place I've ever stayed. KEVIN GRANT is the worst, and unfortunately he runs the establishment. Royal Palm needs someone who knows customer service. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
