Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort

Our family had a lovely Spring break here, returning on 3/28/19. The beach and pools were good, and the adult pool with its swim-up bar is far enough from the family pools that you barely notice what’s happening there. Our room was great, always clean and well kept, and the resort food was good too. We called a few days before the trip to reserve restaurants and had no trouble getting in. We found the staff friendly and accommodating every day, sometimes going out of their way to help. If you want good food and service, plus a nice room, pool, and beach, our family thinks you’ll like it.

At first, getting dinner at the restaurants looked unlikely because they were understaffed, and we thought we’d be stuck with the buffet or outside “grill.” The website seemed to promise more than was available, and we were disappointed since we’d hoped to try the restaurants. Once we realized we needed to line up at 8:30 to make a dinner reservation, we managed to eat at Cilantro & Nikkei. The food was fine, and our servers were great. In the end, everyone at the hotel, from servers to maids, was extremely friendly and accommodating. The staff turned my initial 2 star review into a 4.

The food at the restaurants was wonderful, especially the fresh pasta and sauces at Aqua. The Marketplace buffet was my least favorite: the food was good, but the wait staff weren’t attentive, and getting drink refills was difficult. The staff seemed to love children and were very thoughtful with their needs. Our room attendant even went out of the way to refill the snack bar when the kids wanted something at 9:30 p.m., and the minibar was handy for snacks between meals. The hotel is older and could use some minor repairs, though they’re working on them daily. We had a wonderful vacation and would definitely return to Meliá. The Bahamian people are so friendly and kind.

The staff were friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had what we wanted, and I didn’t have a single complaint during the trip. We stayed five days in February for a birthday and were given a cake and bottle of champagne. The room was kept clean, the resort and pools were lovely, and the food and drinks were good. Aqua and Nikkei were our favorite a la carte spots. The beach had beautiful white sand, though the water was a little cold. I had a blast and would definitely return.
