Sun Fun Resort

I booked on a whim through a travel agency the day before leaving on a solo trip, and the agency had misrepresented the hotel. It's affordable for Nassau, but that's because the place is falling apart. There's no atmosphere, and it feels more like a derelict apartment block or an '80s Vegas motel. I was meant to stay eight days and only lasted three nights.

The reception staff were very helpful, and there’s a reasonably priced shuttle to the airport. Jitney buses stop right outside, which helps since the hotel is a long way from downtown. The buildings look a bit run-down, but the beds and sheets were clean, fresh towels came daily, the water was hot, and the AC worked really well. It was perfectly fine and good value compared with other Nassau hotels.

For a fair price by Bahamas standards, you get a bed, working AC, and hot water. That's about what the price buys. The rooms are dirty, so don't look under the bed, and the whole property needs serious maintenance. Breakfast isn't worth it. Go to cafe Johnny canoe instead.

We missed a flight and needed somewhere to wait until morning for another one. The cab fares are apparently higher in the morning, too. They put us in the rough attic rooms on the third floor, and it was an expensive, unpleasant experience. The online pictures don't show the rooms you actually get, and booking at the hotel costs more than online. Only stay here if you absolutely have to.
