Water's Edge Villa - Oceanfront with Private Pool

We made the most of the lovely patio, pool, and views when the ocean was rough that week and getting in safely was difficult. The water comes right up to the patio and splashes against the retaining wall onto the porch, which was pretty cool. But there’s no beach or ocean access from the house. The small beach is about a 5-minute drive away, and the so-called private beach we were told about is only reachable through the water, either by swimming around 1/4 mile or taking the inflatable kayak, which was an adventure. The location is hard to beat, on the quiet NE corner of the island, about 40 minutes from the airport and 20 from Atlantis. You can walk to a grocery store, though it takes about 20 minutes. Unless you need a car, I’d skip renting one and use Joe for rides around the island, including dinner and the airport if needed. The house itself was average and outdated, with random steps all over, and you often have to go up to get down. The spiral stairs to the 4th bedroom weren’t pleasant. The icemaker was broken, the grill was wonky, and the pool was freezing, though I know that part can’t be controlled. I think we’d look for somewhere else if we came back.

The house is gorgeous and sits right on the water. We had amazing snorkeling just off the patio, better than some of the spots a few of us tried while others were diving. Don’t miss the morning sunrises, either. Our family, four adults and kids aged 10-19, had a lovely visit over Thanksgiving. There’s plenty of room to hang out, plus quiet little nooks for reading alone. The beds were comfy, and the kitchen was better stocked than we expected. The owner and property manager were helpful and quick to respond. The only thing we’d change is renting a car, since it’s a residential area without restaurants nearby. We’d love to come back!
