Hotel Taktsang

Loved every moment at Hotel Taktsang. The boutique collection is worth checking out, and the location is a real plus. The rooms are beautiful, the amenities are top notch, and the service really stands out.

The staff’s lack of knowledge was shocking. They couldn’t explain the basic differences between room types or justify the price, and seemed unable to pass problems to a senior person or get them resolved. There was no sense of ownership or accountability. My first room was filthy, smelled awful, and had water overflowing from the bathroom. There was no drinking water in the room, internet, hot water, or basic cleanliness. Even toiletries were missing. I called five times just to get tissues and other basics. That’s negligence, not a minor inconvenience. This was a complete waste of money and one of my worst hotel stays. Hotel Taktsang in Thimphu fell short on the most basic expectations of hospitality, from hygiene to service. I’d strongly advise people to avoid it unless they’re ready for a frustrating, disappointing stay.

The location is lovely and the food was good, but service was only moderate. The room felt stuffy, and the bed linen wasn’t clean. They changed it after I asked, but the room still felt stuffy. There was a heater but no fan, and I was uneasy about opening the window. I left it slightly open anyway to get some fresh air. I suspect they may have been short staffed. Management should take these issues seriously if they want to improve the hotel’s image.

The food was delicious, and the staff were helpful and courteous. It’s a decent hotel with several tourist spots nearby, right in the city center. The room we got was small and pretty average.
