Booking was a bit of a hassle, but since it was low season we could pay cash at the site. The campsite itself was well maintained, with clean ablution facilities in the middle of the park. We saw plenty of wildlife, including lions, herds of elephants with lots of babies, baboons, zebra, impala, and more. The river sunset was beautiful.
Such a beautiful place to camp. The road in was dusty, so take it slow and enjoy watching for wildlife. We heard lions in our camp ⛺️
We saw more wildlife at Ihaha than anywhere else in Moremi and Chobe. Just follow the river and you'll see plenty too. A special thanks to the man running the camp. We'd not seen any lions yet, so when we mentioned that, he drove over to our camp to tell us where he'd just spotted some. We went searching and found them. Really appreciate him doing that!
The location is the one real plus. The campsites are in the heart of Chobe National Park, and the view is incredible, but it doesn't make up for the state of the place. Some sites have no shade at all, and the few facilities, just a bin and braai, could surely be placed somewhere shaded. The ablutions were very clean, but we only got hot water once, and the toilets worked only now and then. The entrance and site look run down, with little sign that maintenance is a priority despite the very steep rates. The wilderness feel was also spoiled by fishing boats constantly passing, loud music from across the river, and the staff camp generator running late. I won't go back.
Overpriced and shabby, with old, mouldy facilities. I didn't feel the area was safe. Be careful around the staff and keep an eye on your valuables.
