Mwandi View Lodge

A lovely place with a really nice owner. If you're lucky, you might spot wild animals, and at night you can hear the hyanas calling. Thanks for the warm hospitality, I really recommend coming here.

We had a lovely night at Mwandi view and spent a relaxing day there too. The owners and staff were friendly and helpful. The campsites and chalets were neat, the prices fair, and the view was amazing. The food was very tasty as well. Definitely recommend.

The only drawback is that the camp is small, with sites right next to each other. Otherwise, it's a very nice place, about 20km from the Ngoma Gate of the Chobe NP, with great game viewing. Dinner was delicious, the hosts and staff were super friendly, and hyenas passed the small waterhole in front of the terrace every evening.

We camped, so I can't rate the rooms. The camping facilities were good, with a nice lawn and power points and water at each site. The deck and restaurant were great for meals, though you need to book ahead. Our last night had a worrying moment on a night drive into the bush. About 4km in, the open vehicle stopped while we were listening to the night sounds and looking at the stars, and it wouldn't start again. It hadn't been well maintained. The driver had no phone or two-way radio to contact camp, no basic tools, and no weapon for defence if needed. There were lions and hyenas around. The driver tried to reassure us that there was no dangerous wildlife nearby, but we'd heard those animals the night before, so we felt unprepared for an emergency. Luckily, one of the passengers was able to call the campsite from her phone, and help arrived about 45 minutes later. Without her call, we might have spent the night out in the bush. I hope the owners have learned from this and make sure drives, day or night, have proper preparation and constant communication. Visitors shouldn't be put at risk, even if they've signed disclaimers.
