Chiloto Guest House

A big thank you from Switzerland. We stayed three nights at Chiloto, five of us across three rooms, and they looked after us very well. They organized excellent outings, including safaris in Chobe National Park, a river boat trip, and a trip to Victoria Falls. Everything was tip top.

The property was dirty throughout, and the kitchen was among the dirtiest I've ever seen, with grease and dust covering everything. The advertised breakfast never appeared, and power was out much of the time. I know the electricity issue wasn't entirely their fault, but it made an already uncomfortable stay worse. The whole place felt run down, with little attention to guests' experience. During my stay, a considerable amount of money was stolen from my locked room while I was out. The owner or manager never showed up or offered support during the police investigation. There was no management presence at all. Staff said they had no spare room keys, which I find very hard to believe in a hotel, and it made it seem obvious that someone working there was responsible for the theft. I spent hours at the local police station, and my holiday was completely ruined. I wouldn't return or recommend this place to anyone looking for a safe, clean, or professionally managed stay.

The location worked perfectly for us, very close to restaurants and SPAR supermarket. The rooms were spotless, the AC was strong, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We booked all our game drives through the guesthouse and everything went well. Breakfast was complimentary, just coffee and good toast with cheese, which was a nice way to start the day.

We arrived hoping to rest after a long drive, but the room we'd reserved had been given away and they told us they were fully booked. I'd paid the 50% deposit they required. This was the second time they'd done this, and I'd hoped they'd improved. There was no apology. If you want the stress of having nowhere to sleep in Kasane, book yourself at Chiloto. They're very unprofessional with bookings. I would NOT RECOMMEND this place to anyone.
