The rooms were clean, spacious and very comfortable, but avoid the restaurant. None of the nine meals we had came out right. The steak was badly overcooked, the fish was soaked in oil, and instead of Hake we got hake cake. A terrible restaurant experience.

We had a very negative stay at Thlou Hotel and didn't like anything about it. The staff seemed apathetic and unprofessional. The receptionist showed no interest in doing her job, and the restaurant staff were just as poor. We ate at the hotel restaurant on our first day because we didn't know the other options. The treatment was so bad that during the rest of our three-day stay, we didn't even go back to ask for a bottle of water. It was deeply disappointing and didn't meet what we'd expect from a hotel of this level.

This place has more of an urban feel than a safari lodge, but the comfort was sublime. It's next to a Puma petrol station, Shoprite and Nando’s, and there's a pool for those scorching northern Botswana days. The restaurant serves throughout the day, and we enjoyed the breakfast. Shaded parking is available, and the rooms were just right for our one-night stopover. We had a wonderful stay at Tlou. Ratanang and Omaatle helped us when we arrived and were kind, friendly and eager to assist. Keep it up, guys!

We stayed in a small one-bedroom house with a self-catering kitchen, little lounge, outdoor braai and seating, and parking right outside. The whole lodge and unit were clean and well maintained. The queen bed was comfortable, and there was air conditioning if needed. Every opening window had a mosquito screen, and there was a net over the bed. Bring your costume, it gets hot in the middle of the day even in winter. The halal restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The reception ladies and management staff were friendly and helpful, and the lodge offers airport pickup at no extra cost, a nice bonus. I loved how quiet it was at night. My only complaint is that a safari vehicle was parked literally 2 metres from our bedroom and started every morning just after 5am. No sleeping in! We mentioned it to reception after the first night.

The boat cruise was even better than the amazing drives. We found the rooms and service good, and the people were lovely. A very good place for the price, and the halal food was a real plus.
