Chobe River Lodge

One night wasn’t nearly enough. The home-cooked meals were out of this world, and the service was outstanding. The lodge has been renovated, and our stunning room looked out over the riverfront. It felt like home, and was the most breathtaking stay we’ve had in Africa. We’d love to come back.

Our local guide recommended this hotel, and it became one of our best hotel stays in Botswana. The place is impeccably maintained, and the service was exceptional. Dinner was a real treat, made even better by the attentive, well-trained staff. Thank you for a memorable visit.

We had a great river trip and game drives, with BK as our guide. He was excellent and always keen to help us get the best sightings. The cold plunge pool was a highlight too, especially with a G&T. It’s a modern boutique hotel with friendly, helpful staff, and the owner is clearly invested in it. She was lovely and shared lots of travel tips and advice.

I stayed at Chobe River Lodge as a guest, not as a guide, so the public reply got that wrong and brushed aside my own experience. We were left with the impression that drinks were included or at least reasonably priced. Nobody told us the price. After ordering three rum and cokes, we found we’d been charged around 150€ for one bottle of rum. It was a ridiculous shock on the bill and, to me, an absolute disgrace that borders on fraud. The dining area was swarming with thousands of mosquitoes in the evening, coming from the river. There were no nets or other prevention measures there, and mosquitoes also got into the rooms through a gap under the door. Sleeping peacefully was impossible. Never again. Avoid Chobe River Lodge if you don’t want to be ripped off and eaten alive by mosquitoes.
