Deception Valley Lodge

We saw a very shy leopard and a cheetah, and it seemed the animals hardly ever see people. There weren’t any other tourists from other lodges in sight. The game drives, people, rooms and food were all amazing. Thanks for making it feel like home during our visit.

From the deck we had incredible wildlife sightings, elephants, lion, leopard, honey badger and porcupine. A very special place in the Kalahari.

Our first morning drive was the best part of the trip. Watching the sun come up and realizing we were on safari in Africa was something else. We saw more animals on that drive than the staff had seen in a week. The guided walk with the San Bushmen was fabulous, even though they had trouble lighting the fire. Their story about their ancestors was great. The accommodation was first class, and the whole staff spoiled us. My wife and I couldn’t have picked a better lodge for our first safari. Good food, friendly hosts, and a waterhole right in front of the lodge lapa deck where you can see antelope and lions drinking. This is the real deal, you won’t be disappointed.
