The people at Euphorbia Mashatu really care about how guests are doing, and the facilities feel new and comfortable. We had filtered water, fresh ice each day, and quiet nights with all the sounds of Africa around us. The beds were comfortable too. We took malaria medication, though the one reported case from 5-7 years ago wasn't confirmed to have come from the Tuli area, so there may have been no cases there. I saw bats one morning, which carry a rabies risk, but we face the same risk at home. Most drives were in the Land Cruiser early in the morning and late afternoon, when we had the best chance of seeing animals. We also went biking and took a short hike. Those outings involved lots of detours to avoid a breeding herd of elephants, which added some excitement. We spent most of our time in the vehicle, where the animals seemed unbothered by us. We were right beside lions, sometimes uncomfortably close, but they paid us no mind. You'd have to stand up or leave the truck to provoke a reaction, and you'd have to be pretty dumb to do that. We saw plenty of adult and baby elephants, giraffes, elands, kudu, jackals, chacma baboons, bat-eared foxes, wildebeest, impala, hyenas and mongoose. Bird sightings included a woodland kingfisher, fishing eagles, giant eagle owls, hornbills and saddle-billed storks, along with far too many other species to list. We also found adult lions, leopards and cheetahs, as well as cubs. The predators take more work to find, but other groups I spoke with had seen them up close too. Drivers and locals outside camp said they'd never heard complaints from Mashatu visitors, especially people staying at Euphorbia. Locals choose this safari too, as the best one around in southern Africa.

We loved the whole staff, and Kenosi was such a kind, informative guide. The team planned little surprises for us each day, and the service was fantastic. Our room was comfortable and beautifully decorated. Euphorbia Mashatu was the nicest place we've ever stayed. A lovely resort!

What stayed with me most was how much the team cared. The guides made our outings memorable, and the staff did all they could to make us comfortable. They also shared so many stories and details on the guided tours that I came away understanding more, not just seeing things. The setting itself was striking, with beautiful scenery and impressive buildings. From the moment I arrived, the place felt almost dreamlike, as if every small detail had been handled just right. The people's enthusiasm and the sense of wonder are what make it special. I left feeling inspired and refreshed. It's a unique adventure.

Getting there is tricky, but it's absolutely worth the effort.
