Happy Hostel

A nice place to stay in a good location, with really friendly staff.

I won't be coming back.

The location is the main drawback: it’s in a private area, not very close to the center, and Google Maps doesn’t take you right to the hostel. Navitel does lead straight to the gate. The kitchen is okay, but cooking there would be difficult, and the gas stove has come up in other reviews too. I’ve stayed here about five times and tried other hostels as well. This place is clean and cozy, the rooms are large and kept clean, and there’s plenty of parking out front. The receptionists are polite and ready to help, and there’s Wi-Fi. There’s also a spacious courtyard with a barbecue.

Six months ago, we held an event here for 30 people and everything went well. Since the business changed hands, though, our experience has been awful. I had barely arrived before a rude woman in rubber gloves, who said she was the receptionist but seemed more like a cleaner, confronted me. I thought she might kill me, but instead she peppered me with questions about why we hadn’t said we needed to heat the conference room and why we were making noise when people downstairs were sleeping after a night shift. I was stunned, since I was only a guest. The organizers had apparently warned the hosts about these things, but they either didn’t understand or didn’t want to. Some attendees were even sworn at. The next morning, the “administrator” barged into our rooms to wake us and insist we take apart the tables in the conference room and bring them back to our rooms, for no reason. We had paid until 12:00 and could easily have cleaned up and put things in order, as we did last time. Even when we went to the kitchen for coffee before leaving, she kept going on with complete nonsense. When we asked for a complaints book, they said there wasn’t one. We wanted to lower our stress levels with this stay, but it was the opposite. I’m giving this a big F because zero isn’t an option. I hope the business soon goes to reasonable people and real business owners who care about guest comfort.
