Smart Boutique Hotel Vitebsk

The hotel's service was really bad and stupid. I'm writing this from the hotel, which has nothing smart about it despite what it claims. Breakfast was included in the price, but the cook apparently got sick, which can happen anywhere. What was ridiculous was the compensation they offered: either two extra hours in the room or a discount on a future stay. Since neither extra time nor a discount is edible, we turned those down and asked them to arrange breakfast somewhere else. Five minutes later, the self-declared administrator, who said she'd been there for two days, came back and told us where we could eat breakfast at our own expense. I said fine, then take money from the counter and give it to us to pay for it. She said it wasn't their fault the cook got sick and that providing the breakfast we'd paid for wasn't their problem.

The hotel is in a very good location, and the rooms have all the amenities. It's a lovely boutique hotel with spacious rooms, a big breakfast, and an amazing complimentary breakfast as well, with waffles and fruit.

The room was clean, and the staff were very friendly and spoke English. There is no elevator, though.

It was difficult to find a dedicated hotel in Vitebsk, so this place feels like a compromise. It has much the same style as many similar places in the former Sovjets Union.
