Club Rooms At Popeyes Beach Resort

Be aware! Even though I booked this on Booking.com, they still wanted an advance payment. That’s reasonable, but they repeatedly failed to charge my debit card, which I use constantly and know is perfectly fine. In the end, I didn’t stay there because my room had been given to someone else before I arrived. I’m leaving this rating to give honest feedback. Be aware!

The condo was spacious, with a rooftop patio, a really comfortable bed, and very hot showers throughout our stay. I didn’t like the mothball smell in the room, and the little tables in the corners just felt like clutter and weren’t helpful. The pool hadn’t been used for two days and didn’t look inviting. I’d thought staying on or near the beach would be appealing, but on this side of the island the beach shacks and piers built along the water’s edge take away from the beach look and feel. If I came back, I’d probably stay one or two blocks into the center for a tidier feel, or at one of the budget condos at Popeyes.

We stayed four nights. The room was nice and had everything we needed, and check in went smoothly apart from a wait. Rooms aren’t cleaned during your stay unless you pay extra. We didn’t use the pool, though it looked nice and clean.

Noise from the bar right in front made this feel more like a sleep-sucking stop than a Caribbean getaway. The building is old, and there’s no convenient spot to brush off sand before going into the rooms. They might want to upgrade the door locks too.
