Costa Nube

We celebrated our 32nd wedding Anniversary last week at Costa Nube, and it was a lovely place to do it. The hosts were warm, welcoming, and helpful, with good tips for food, scuba and snorkeling trips, and other excursions. Our room was spacious and gorgeous, with all the amenities, a big comfortable bed, strong water pressure, and air conditioning when we needed it. We could enjoy drinks at the bar and sunsets upstairs, plus morning yoga, then retreat from the town's noise and crowds while still being quite close. Caye Caulker is beautiful and its people are gracious. Fresh juice, fry jacks, homemade ice cream in waffle cones, and Belikin beer were all part of the island's appeal.

We spent a really peaceful time at Costa Nube, tucked among the groves on the south side of Caye Calker. It's a quiet place to unwind, off the grid and eco friendly, but still with a good hot shower. The room had plenty of amenities and very comfortable beds. The owners were friendly and lovely, and knew the island and nearby areas well. They gave us helpful ideas for outings and places to eat. We enjoyed the bikes they provided for the roughly 10-minute ride into town. We'd happily come back as soon as we can.

We only had one night on Caye Caulker after taking the quick, easy ferry over from San Pedro, but Costa Nube made us want to return. Aldo and Kolleen were communicative and helpful, and the property has room for privacy as well as shared spots to relax and chat. Our clean, comfortable room had a full kitchen, AC, and a private balcony. We watched the sunrise yoga and sunset from the rooftop, then borrowed bikes. Aldo helped adjust them to our height, and we rode all over the island, even crossing the Split and spotting a crocodile. We also took paddleboards around to Secret Beach. They let us check out late so we could paddle, and Aldo picked us up from the beach to spare us the ride back. We later bumped into him at Sports Bar, one of their recommendations, and enjoyed the live music and a few drinks. I'd definitely stay here again and recommend it.

We had a very relaxing weekend at Costa Nube. The covered outdoor lounges were breezy and inviting, and we spent hours stargazing on the upper one. WiFi was steady, so it would also suit someone who needs to work. We stayed in the top-floor unit, which had what we needed for either a short or longer visit. The property runs off grid, but its solar setup is capable enough to power the bedroom AC in the evenings when needed.
