Luis and Bryan really know how to make guests feel welcome, safe, and looked after. The Sunshine room was a standalone little building, with an adorable private patio, hammock, and bistro table. It also had the most comfortable bed I've found in Belize. The property is shady and charming, one block off the main drag overlooking the local soccer field. There's a palapa on the third floor where you can have the complimentary breakfast or work, with exceptional WiFi. The connection was extremely reliable across the whole property. There are a couple of cute dogs, and the place is secured by a metal gate. I recommend Yocamatsu 10/10. I was bummed they didn't have another night available, because my next place didn't compare. If I return to Caye Caulker, I'll plan around their availability.

The breakfasts were delicious, and the hospitality was lovely. Just ask if you need anything, Luis is glad to help. Yocamatsu's rooms are clean and comfortable, and the garden setting is charming. It's centrally located along the soccer field, between the water taxi and The Split. I'll absolutely come back.

Luis was so responsive, replying promptly every time I got in touch, both well before the trip and while we were on the island. He even sent a taxi at the last minute twice. The rooms are comfortable, with working AC, basic supplies, and a small fridge. Breakfast is served on the upstairs deck, with ocean views on both sides. It was a lovely, gentle way to ease into Belize. And the dogs were total sweethearts. My husband cuddled them, and we gave them belly rubs every day.

We wished we could have stayed longer, if only for the delicious breakfast. Our hosts answered questions quickly and made sure we were comfortable during our two nights. Yocamatsu is tucked away from the tourist bustle but still close to everything, with a short, easy walk from the ferry even with bags. The porch hammock was lovely, and the dogs were friendly with us while keeping an eye on passersby. The rooftop has wonderful views and was a great place for breakfast. A quiet, charming spot where you don't feel like a tourist.

We checked in during the day, then returned around 10 p.m. to find four dogs guarding the gate and not letting us open it to reach our room. We have four dogs at home ourselves, but these dogs were guarding the property. We called and emailed the hotel repeatedly, but no one responded, so we went down the road and managed to find a guest house for the night. When we called again the next morning and spoke to the manager, the dogs were gone. We asked why nobody had answered and why we couldn't get to our room. He said the dogs were friendly and we should have just gone in. We were very upset by the manager's serious lack of care and responsibility. He offered a full refund, which we requested, then we packed and left immediately and found somewhere else for the second night. An awful first-night experience.
