Princess Hotel and Casino Free Zone

The buffet took a long time, though it was really good. I enjoyed the stuffed chicken, and the buffet price matched the food quality. Service was another story: the waitresses seemed unhappy and unwilling to serve, the service was rude, and the bartenders looked frustrated. They would usually give you flat soda.

The staff are the reason I give this place two stars. They try to make guests comfortable with what management gives them, and they seem genuine. Still, don't ask for coffee unless you're prepared to wait. The waitress will cheerfully fetch it, but has to go downstairs and across half the casino because the dining area doesn't serve it. I've seen the hotel decline, and it feels like a shadow of what it was. That doesn't seem to be from age. Maybe management has been botched, or perhaps catering to the devalued Mexican peso is a factor. Rooms are neat and clean, but of the two double beds, one will lean and squeak, so choose the less favorable one. The continental breakfast is gone. Menu prices in US dollars have doubled, and meals may arrive at room temperature. If you're there for gaming, it may be okay. If you're between borders, bring enough cash, since they no longer accept any credit cards. The receptionist will direct you to an ATM that charges like a desperate gambler making a wager. I'd honestly spend the night in Chetumal Mexico instead, or check in with Belize immigration and stop in Corozal. It would be cheaper and more enjoyable. If you do stay, try for a room on the first level, which is the second floor. There are no elevators or porters, and bring your own soap.

I waited 20 minutes at my table before anyone brought me a menu, and the customer service was bad. The food tasted old, not fresh. The shrimp were overcooked and the vegetables looked old and frozen. It was pricey for food that seemed old. Never again. Next time I'll take my business to Vegas. I don't have a photo, but feel free to try it yourself, just be warned.

It's okay, but too packed and there's too much smoking for me. The new slot machines were about the only good thing. Sadly, I don't have any pictures to share.
