Latitude Adjustment

I found a great Airbnb deal and honestly couldn’t have picked a better spot in Hopkins. My friend and I stayed a few days, and the owner was around while we were there. He was friendly, professional, and just a great dude. I’m planning to come back soon.

The pool was clean, the staff were good, and I really liked our Green Iguana cabana. It had pretty much what we needed, though there was no blender or A/C. December wasn’t too hot through the day, but the screens didn’t fit very well and bugs kept biting me. Still, it was a lovely place and I wish I could’ve stayed for months ❤️

The pool was small, but clean and nicely designed, and we enjoyed it. Our cabin was lovely, clean, comfortable, and had the basics. The location in Yellowtail is nice and feels more private than the main roads. There were several letdowns. We chose the place because it advertised strong Wi-Fi, but it was only 5 Mbps down and unreliable, and the response to our disappointment felt uncaring. The kettle didn’t work, and despite the listing promising two bottles of water on arrival, there was none. The kitchen had adequate basic utensils, but the plates and bowls were too high for me at 5'2, so luckily my husband could reach them. The bedroom was a mixed bag. I liked the firm mattress and the cotton sheets, and the pillows were okay. The ceiling fans barely moved air, although the standing fan worked well despite being cheap and very noisy. One of the two pretty chairs was missing a board, so you sank into its cushion; the other was fine. The bathroom worked, but its towel rail had broken off and hadn’t been replaced. The toilet handle has to be lifted or the water keeps running. Ask for extra towels. Outside, the balcony chairs were old and a bit sketchy, but usable.

I didn’t think this was good value. There’s no A/C, and it matters, especially with the neighbors burning things. It felt like camping out, and I don’t think the other reviews mention the burning. The room was clean, but there’s no service. The kitchen was a mixed deal: the microwave was useful, but the little fridge wouldn’t freeze anything. There was no can opener or vegetable peeler, and the knife was dull. One night the toilet overflowed. Check the satellite photos, since it’s a block from the beach. Get To Know Belize Adventures is around the corner, and we especially enjoyed the full-day snorkel trip with lunch that we arranged there.
