Melanie made our family feel so special, even arranging a homemade birthday cake. She handled the service and coordination beautifully, and the tours and food were fantastic. From the airport pickup all the way to the ferry drop-off, every part of the experience was top notch. The food really was the best in Belize, no kidding.

Melanie is the name to know at Abezza. She was wonderful, and we loved our time there so much that we’re already looking forward to coming back. It felt like home in a beautiful, peaceful place, with plants and animals all around. We were lucky to have the resort mostly to ourselves, just me and my little family of three, and everyone treated us with such kindness and gave us great advice. The excursions were amazing, and we got to learn about Belizean history and everyday life. The food was delicious, everything on the menu, and the staff were freaking amazing too.

Just getting to Abezza was part of the adventure. Once the gates opened, I could tell I was in for something special. The property has so much to discover, from the yoga shala and meditation hut to the "Jungle Jim" and other little surprises tucked around the grounds. Paths and dwellings follow the shape of the jungle, with art appearing in unexpected spots. The creators' deep commitment to sustainability is clear, and the whole place feels whimsical, creative, and made with a lot of love and care. My room was lush and comfortable, with thoughtful details. The organic food was delicious and prepared and served with care. Abezza brings together so many experiences on one piece of land, all hosted by a very special family. I hope I can return someday to this magical place and everything it held for me.

The hot water and air conditioning were what I worried about most, but we had both. Our room was cleaned every other day, and the maids were kind. Gloria and Sandy were the kindest, most capable waitstaff I’ve met, and Melanie feels more like a friend to us now, as well as being a wonderful host. The food was my second favorite part, so try everything. At arrival they brought us a complimentary drink, and there was food available depending on what time we got in. Getting welcomed at the resort was my favorite part of the trip. Even the drive there from the airport was a blast, with the driver pointing out all kinds of structures, animals, and plants. After that long plane ride, the nicest driver greeted us, and the vacation that became the most beautiful one I’ve ever had started here. We’ll come back whenever we can.

We’ve stayed at Abezza three times now, and each visit makes leaving harder. There are only about 20 villas, so it never feels crowded, and the staff give guests such personal attention. The resort is deep in the Belizean jungle, quiet and art-filled, a real escape from city noise and work stress. The villas are beautifully decorated and spaced among greenery, with winding paths dotted with sculptures and installations. At night, warm, colorful lights make the walks feel magical. It’s easy to unplug, though the WiFi is solid if you need it. Melanie and Nicky, who own and run this family resort, are incredibly kind and knowledgeable. They share their dream with guests, and you can see the care in the rooms and in how genuinely they help plan your stay, from airport transport to jungle adventures or just relaxing. The meals felt like private, romantic dinners in paradise. Food is locally sourced and beautifully plated, often with fresh hibiscus blossoms. Their house-made mango/papaya habañero hot sauce is out of this world. Pools and hot tubs are dotted around the property for a quiet soak, and we had one of our most relaxing experiences there with a couples massage at the spa. Belize might bring the Cayes and crowded beach resorts to mind, but Abezza offers a different kind of stay, with room to connect with nature, your partner, and yourself. We can’t wait to return.
