The stay itself was genuinely great, which makes what happened at the restaurant even more frustrating. Nolan's conduct was dishonest and unprofessional, and management should take a serious look at how he treats guests. The restaurant had advertised the Super Bowl, so I hurried back from a tour specifically to watch it there rather than somewhere else. But the TV was on another channel because Nolan had handed full control to a group of guests, leaving everyone else unable to watch the game or halftime show. When I asked for the advertised broadcast, he came out and claimed the restaurant was booked for a private event and that I should have been told at check-in. There had been no sign or notice, and the front desk later confirmed there was no private booking. He made up that excuse to get me out and blamed his coworkers. Worse, people in that group made racist remarks toward me. Nolan did nothing about it, sided with them, and kicked me out. That is completely unacceptable from someone representing a hospitality business. The night before, I'd bought fruit for my group and left it with the kitchen. I later found out it had been served to that same table without my permission. That was another example of Nolan disregarding guests and their property. The sign out front mentions “affordable tranquility,” but it seemed to apply only to people staff thought would leave a big tip. I found the false claims, racist mistreatment, and staff behavior unacceptable.
