Belize Toucan Nest Hotel

We booked one room but wound up with the whole property to ourselves. It felt a little spooky being alone outside town, especially with no reception desk, but we had no problems. The AC was great, and there’s a large kitchen and a big market right across the street. It’s quite far from central San Ignacio, so you’ll need to pay for a cab to get to restaurants or book tours. The only person we saw was the cleaning lady, who checked us in and came by once to see how we were.

Belize Toucan Nest is a cozy place just off the George price highway in San Ignacio. There’s a shopping center, gas station, and sporting complex nearby. If you don’t have a car, buses and taxis go right past the hotel.

We booked a private room and got a whole private house instead. The AC was fantastic, especially since we could set it ourselves. There’s no reception desk, and there are stairs that go nowhere. The receptionist checked on us once, then left us to ourselves for the rest of the day.
