Friendly, helpful staff can sort out things like golf cart arrangements, and you can buy useful items on-site, including drinking water and laundry. The clean rooms are cozy, nicely detailed, and spacious enough. It’s great value for money, though the location is a little outside the island center, so you’ll need a golf cart to get around.

I was very disappointed with Belize Budget Suites because of how they dealt with a situation beyond my control, not because of the property itself. I had a confirmed reservation, but serious flight disruptions at my departure airport meant I couldn’t travel. I explained the travel problems and my safety concerns clearly and respectfully. They wouldn’t offer any flexibility, not even a partial refund or credit toward a future stay. The cancellation policy was enforced strictly, but what bothered me most was the lack of empathy. I understand that policies exist, but I expected some understanding or compromise for exceptional circumstances. Their replies felt repetitive and dismissive, as if they weren’t willing to consider any reasonable solution. For a “family-run” business that emphasizes hospitality, I expected a more human response. Even a small credit would have meant a lot. If you book here, know that they’re very rigid about their policies and may not work with you if unexpected travel problems come up.

The owner was so kind, and the rooms are very spacious for what you pay, with a kitchen, big bathroom, living room, and big bedroom. It was totally worth it moneywise. There are restaurants and supermarkets nearby, and the location worked perfectly for us because we went diving. Just keep in mind it’s a bit far from the center, about a 20-30 min walk.

Lucinda and her hotel were both great. The place has character and was comfortable, with a great bed and A/C, and everything was incredibly clean. It isn’t an upscale gringo resort, but the rate was amazing, around $80USD all in in early Sep. Next time I’ll spend fewer nights at Mahogany Bay Resort and stay here more. I’ll be back soon.
