San Pedro Holiday Hotel

A basic place to sleep if you’ll be out all day, and it did that job fine. The beds and pillows were good, the showers okay, and the air conditioning worked well. The location was good too. Most of the staff were very nice, though the front office people often seemed bothered by everything. If you’re expecting the Four Seasons, this isn’t the place.

We lost power and air conditioning for the whole fifth night, then the water stopped the next morning while I was in the shower. I went to the front desk with shampoo still in my hair to ask what was going on and hopefully get help. The guy laughed, shrugged, and threw his arms up. I eventually went through Airbnb to get a refund for that night. The host later said he wanted to “greatly apologize” for the rude staff, but after my review was published, I could see he’d called me “very demanding” in his guest review. We’d barely spoken before those problems on our last night, and I wasn’t demanding. We were quiet, cleaned up after ourselves, and hadn’t talked to staff until I asked about the water. Since the staff didn’t really acknowledge me, I mostly dealt with Airbnb rather than the host. His apology seemed aimed at getting a good review before his negative one became visible, and that review felt like retaliation for the refund. I visit San Pedro more than 10 times a year to see my boyfriend and will be back in a few weeks, but we’re staying elsewhere.

The rooms were roomy and comfortable, and we ate really well at the restaurant. The bar staff were great too. The hotel is right in the heart of town, and the staff were amazing about helping with anything we needed.

We loved the view from our room and being right on the beach. There’s good food next door, and the best dive shop on the island is an easy walk away. The people were friendly, and we’ll definitely come back.
