Coco's Beachfront Cabanas

We spent a relaxing week at Coco's Beachfront Cabanas. The beach feels secluded most of the time, and I loved being only about 25 ft from the porch to the water. A few local kids swam nearby a couple of times, but otherwise it felt private. There's also a dock close by where you can jump in without as much seagrass touching you, which is common in Belize. The cabana was comfortable and clean, with a full working kitchen. We didn't cook much because there was plenty of good, inexpensive food nearby. The proprietors were friendly and helpful, and both the cabana and grounds were trouble free. With a car, restaurants and attractions are easy to reach. Placencia is around a 15-minute drive down the main street, and there are restaurants about 7 minutes the other way. Driving in Belize takes some getting used to: there are speed bumps everywhere and no traffic lights. It felt no harder than driving in Costa Rica or elsewhere I've driven, though different from the US or Canada. Lots of tourists use golf carts and bikes, and at night it's very dark on the single main two-lane road, with no shoulder. I wouldn't feel as safe traveling at night, especially outside a car. We drove from the main airport, where we rented a car, a trip of about 2.5 hours. If you're a confident driver it's manageable, just watch your speed so you don't hit a bump at 50 mph.

The pool was super refreshing, and this is a quiet, private feeling area close to Placencia. We found the cabana clean and very well cared for, and the hosts were lovely and easy to reach. Highly recommend Coco’s Beachfront Cabanas.

We stayed three nights recently and came away very satisfied. The sunrise view is spectacular, and on a clear night the sky is beautiful too.

We loved the peaceful setting at Coco’s, with town still within reach by car or golf cart. If you don't have either, a few restaurants and a grocery store are close enough to walk or bike to. Jean and Steve were wonderful hosts, and communication during booking was terrific. The cabana was great for cooking and barbecuing some of our meals. We also enjoyed the kayaks and were glad to have the local phone they provided. We're already planning to return.
