St. George's Caye Resort

Our CYA Leadership Consulting Women's Transformational and Empowerment Retreat was exactly what the group needed. We had over water cabanas and slept so well. Between the spa treatments, Mayan ruin tour, and everything else available, there was plenty to enjoy. The three meals each day were delicious, the chef was amazing, and that rum punch was on point. They brought us coconut water when we asked, along with morning coffee. It all felt like an authentic island stay with the right amenities, and everything was handled seamlessly. The staff were responsive and knew us by name. The supervisors were easy to reach, and Tim clearly cares about his team. I especially appreciated how thoughtfully and effectively he and the staff communicated. I took my group to the island and enjoyed every moment. The ladies are already talking about going back, and I know I will too. If you need to recharge, reset, and relax, this is a perfect spot. I shall return.

We celebrated my birthday with a private romantic dinner, and I’ll never forget it. The water bungalow looked like a postcard, and we saw dolphins every day. I loved the Belize ruins too, such a beautiful bucket list experience. The food was fresh and exquisite, and they handled my allergies seamlessly. Best of all, the friendships we made with staff and other guests mean so much to us. There’s plenty to do if you want adventure, and it’s just as good for a relaxing break or honeymoon. We can’t wait to return. Thank you for all the memories!

We left after just one night, and I’m now paying $2,700 for a vacation that was a mess. The cabana was a small twin bed room, yet we were charged $800 per night. To me, the facility quality was worth about $50 a night, if that. The property is deteriorating, and it seemed like staff were trying to cover up its shortcomings. There were biting flies all over the welcome area, and the employee kept us standing there while explaining the property. We asked to go inside so we could hear the rest. The bar had no air conditioning, even though it needed it. The office was cooled, but guest areas weren’t. Rotting sargassum was unbearable, and it was awful on both sides of the property, including under the cabins. The water here isn’t crystal clear, it was murky. The photos they use to advertise are the best they could get and don’t show the same place we experienced. We looked at other cabins and still found the sargassum awful. I asked kindly for a refund for the three nights we didn’t stay, but they wouldn’t discuss it or issue one. I disputed the charge with my credit card, but because I’d signed the no refunds policy, they won. The other guests we spoke to that night were disappointed too, though they were grinning and bearing it. I don’t usually leave bad Google reviews, but I think this one is deserved. Please see my other reviews and the photos. I’m trying to spare the next person a ruined vacation. There are nicer places in Belize, so don’t choose this one.

We’ll be back next year. It’s a small resort, so you share meals with other groups, which we really enjoyed. The other guests were fun to chat with and join on excursions. The food matters here since there are no other restaurants on the island, and it was amazing. I usually like to go out and explore instead of staying put, but there’s plenty to do at the resort if you feel like hanging around. The staff are amazing, and having no kids around made it especially relaxing.
