The place has a lot of potential, but cleaning needs attention. The host was welcoming and kind, and breakfast was good. I only ate the fresh food, though, because the baked goods were stale and expired. After my stay, I was unpleasantly surprised to find fleas in the bedsheets. Neither the rooms nor the bathrooms are cleaned daily. If the owners are reading, daily cleaning is a must if you call yourselves a hotel. It might help to hire a cleaning service instead of doing everything yourselves. Most of the complaints seem to be about cleanliness, which would be easy to address and could greatly improve the rating. Unfortunately, after my experience, I’m now doubtful about the certifications and appraisal displayed inside.

The registration staff member got in touch within about 30 minutes of seeing my brief two-star review, and asked if they could make things better. When we returned, we talked about the food, bathroom, and our general dissatisfaction. She offered us the room with an en-suite bath. We thought it was a complimentary upgrade for an unhappy customer and started moving our luggage. As we were nearly done, she asked how we planned to pay for the upgrade. We explained that we’d understood it was complimentary. She spoke with the owner, came back and agreed, then returned again after we’d moved and said that room had just been booked, so we had to move back. We did, reluctantly. Nobody used it for the remaining two days of our stay, so it felt like we’d been lied to. She also said we shouldn’t complain about the breakfast because it was complimentary. But it was one of the reasons I chose the property, I’m pretty sure it’s included in the price, and serving food far past its expiry date could be dangerous and possibly illegal. The spread looked impressive, but much of it was inedible. On our first morning, yogurt I took from the fridge was four months past its expiry date. It was sealed, so I opened it anyway, but the blueberries inside were gray, my wife could smell the sour odor from across the table, and it tasted awful. I threw it out and tried a larger container that was only two months out of date. That seemed okay, until I added cereal from a dispenser. It was extremely stale with a terrible texture. The chocolate donut bars were horribly stale too. The shared bathroom sink smelled and drained poorly. I mentioned it the first evening, and was told it would be fixed the next day, but nothing changed. I raised it again that night; she said she’d use more chemicals. It was a little better the day after, but running the tap for ten seconds still left about a centimeter of water in the basin. I also hadn’t noticed when booking that the bathroom was shared. The WiFi worked on our check-in evening and the next morning. After our discussions, all our devices suddenly seemed to be blocked. MAC address randomization got them working for a while, but the response felt petty. There were other signs of neglect too: both bedroom windows had broken mini-blinds that wouldn’t open properly, and the portable heat pump didn’t heat when switched on. There were three bedrooms upstairs and some number downstairs. On the afternoon we arrived, someone came through the side gate swearing about slipping on debris in the yard. That night and the next, there were loud arguments outside and downstairs. Overall, it was a terrible experience.

We appreciated the good communication and being allowed to check in a little early. The area seemed safe, and it was quiet at night. I’m surprised by some reviews because they didn’t match our experience in every respect, but the state of our triple room with garden view and the hallway was poor. The carpet was badly stained and seemed overdue for replacement. The place needed a thorough clean and better furniture, and there was a water stain on the ceiling plus chips and marks on the wall and door frame. There was one shower room and one toilet and sink room for seven rooms, so keep that in mind. Some care and attention could make this much better. We didn’t have breakfast, so I can’t comment on it. I don’t like giving a low score, but people should be able to choose based on honest reviews. I felt misled by some of the others, and wouldn’t stay again. Update Nov2025: They tried to charge my card today, three months after our stay. Luckily it was declined. Be very careful if you choose to stay here.

The host was lovely, and I really enjoyed my stay. I was able to check in well before the regular time. 10/10, I’ll pass along good things to friends and family and tell them to stay here.
