White Birches Cottages

The owners were nice, but we found the place boring, with not much to do. Cottage #11 has very dangerous stairs, and we only found out about the waiver after driving four hours. Communication wasn't good. It also says pets are welcome, so I think there should be no fee. We're never coming back.

The beach is just outside the cottages, and the lake and peaceful view are lovely. With Algonquin Park nearby and towns like Huntsville close too, there's plenty to do. Since the change in ownership, the cottages have been repaired and the sense of pride and community has returned. There are activities for everyone, including a new, amazing climber for kids, a water trampoline and slide, a fully stocked rec hall, kayaks, paddle boats, and more. We had a fantastic stay at White Birches and won't be disappointed to come back.

We stayed in cottage #2 from June 29 to July 1, 2020, right beside the shore and a nice dock. The free kayaks and canoes were a great bonus, and having our own fire pit was a big plus. I prefer that to a shared one. The cottage covers the basics. I came for the outdoors, not a lavish stay. It's close to Algonquin, and they offered me park passes for $10 a day, compared with $18 a day from Algonquin. We had a great time and would definitely go again.

The evening view over the lake was spectacular, and we were only about ten feet from the water. We had our own fire pit, plus free use of kayaks and canoes. The cottage was clean, organized, and had the basic necessities, so all we really needed to bring was food. Jason was helpful with whatever we needed and has clearly put a lot of work into the cottages. My boyfriend and I had a fantastic weekend here about three weeks ago. We'd asked Jason about the earlier reviews, and his account of the previous visitors was completely different: he said they had partied, left the cottages in shambles, and were asked to leave. Don't be discouraged by those reviews. We weren't disappointed.
