We caught a few small fish and some crabs at the lake nearby, and got a lovely tour of the owners' dairy farm. The house is roomy and comfortable, with a big patio, firepit, and trails close by. It isn't modern, but the hosts are so accommodating that we didn't need to bring any extras. They had shampoo, soap, creams, toilet paper, paper towels, clean towels, bedding, firewood, slippers, and robes. Thanks for a great stay.

The large room with the dinette, jacuzzi, and ensuite shower was enjoyed by my brother and his wife. It cost only $30 more than the tiny room I shared with my sister, plus the single bathroom down the hall for the rest of us, so the pricing felt out of whack. The bride-to-be had been told breakfast came only with a two-night stay, so her mother-in-law made breakfast for us. Then my brother and his wife were told breakfast was in the fridge. No one was there to meet them, and when the hostess arrived, her young girl jumped on their car, then their bed, and asked to look in his luggage. I was there for my sister's wedding in July 2017, staying overnight with my siblings. The main rooms looked spacious at first, but the room my sister and I were shown was so small that its door couldn't open because the bed was in the way. We're both in our 60s. The beds were cots with attached headboards and footboards, and the photos do show how tiny the room is. I felt claustrophobic, and could tell the bed would leave me sore in the morning. No air came through the vent. My sister managed to open the window, but there were too many little critters around to keep it open. I slept on the downstairs couch for more space, air, and back support. The open basement made the air smell strongly of mold and mildew, enough to make me cough. Some of the provided toiletries were large, half-used bottles, which felt a little nasty, and there was a shower scrungee that who knows how many people had used. There wasn't any hand soap, even in the kitchen, so I used shampoo instead. There were plenty of nice towels, but not many washcloths. I appreciated the local attraction pamphlets, magazines, and DVDs, though we had to plug in the TV and video box and set them up with the right remote. Without my brother, the TV would've been useless. He also had to sort out the hallway light, whose ceiling bulb had been unscrewed. It would've been hard to reach for someone my height. The place was very dirty. There were ceiling stains, grimy cupboards, a loose deck railing, and a porch step an inch lower than the floor that we kept tripping on. Even the decorations looked decades past their best. I killed two beetle-type bugs in the kitchen sink, and the drains were disgustingly dirty, so I wouldn't have cooked breakfast there anyway. Thankfully, the in-laws invited us to their beautiful place, which could really work as a B&B, and their welcome cheered us up. They live nearby and said Saugeen B&B had changed hands, though it used to be very good and that's why it was recommended. I'd gladly pay extra for a nice motel room instead of staying here again.

I had a very late check-in, and Nancy was there to welcome me. Breakfast had good options, and the kitchen was very large with everything needed for cooking.

We had mostly everything we needed in this nice house, and the grounds were lovely. Laundry would've been handy for a longer stay, but we didn't need it during our four nights. Great place, and we'd stay again.

A lovely old house far from city life. I came here to get away from it all and enjoy some quiet.
