Chalets Maison Chez Laurent

Laurent was so helpful before our hike on the traversée, and we could pick up some last-minute snacks at his dep. We also had a delicious breakfast at the on-site restaurant. Maison chez Laurent was an incredible stop on our Charlevoix trip, and we’d absolutely stay again. Merci Laurent, á la prochaine :)

Laurent was working in his depanneur and was really helpful with all our wet gear. Our group of six had ridden motorcycles through the rain from Montreal all day, so arriving at the large Maison Chez Laurent to get warm and rest felt great. The house is old and definitely needs updating, but it was clean.

The hiking trail right out front was the one good thing about chalet 24. The pictures on RB&B and the website were so different from what we found in real life. It was old, dirty, smelly, and not clean, even though they said smoking wasn't allowed. For that price, I still can't see what made the place worth it. I'd rather have spent the night in a tent. A family camped outside in the public camping area and seemed better off than we were. I also don't understand why RB&B prices are all so high when the quality varies so much.

The best part was the owner, Laurent! The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. The location worked well too, about 10 minutes from the village Baie St-Paul, 20 minutes from the Sepaq park Les grand jardin, and an hour from Sepaq park Les hautes gorges.
