Banff Caribou Lodge and Spa

The hot tub and spa area were nice, and the price was good, but the rooms were another story. We came with friends for the skijouring weekend. The bed was comfy, but the fitted sheet was falling apart and looked like it hadn't been changed in years. The shower had no pressure, and its head leaked everywhere. You couldn't redirect all the water to it because the tub faucet leaked too. The bathrooms need refreshing, and the TV remote was terrible. Just an average stay at the moment. It used to be a beautiful hotel.

I stayed at the Banff Caribou Lodge for two days in November 2025. It's no luxury hotel, and the rooms are basic, but they had everything I needed except a microwave, which I wouldn't expect. The lobby was well decorated, and I'd recommend this lodging to Banff visitors. The service was the highlight: every staff member I met was courteous and made an effort to help. Check-in was great. When I asked the front desk for a mouse pad from my room, one kind staff member offered to lend me hers; when I declined, she found a spare and brought it up. The hotel has free underground parking and provides free bus passes for the duration of the stay. I had a car and didn't use mine, but they still insisted I take the passes just in case. The downside was the attached franchise restaurant, The Keg, didn't have the same staples as other locations, such as their three cheese butter or happy hour menu. If you can, I'd explore local restaurants in the center of town.

NASTY ROOMS! I booked for a few nights over the holiday weekend so my girlfriend and I could enjoy our first trip away together. Neither of us had been to Banff before, so I went all out and hardly spared any expense. Then I found the room hadn't been cleaned properly. When I went for the hair dryer, I came across a previous guest's used underwear and socks!! I reported it to the front desk, and all they offered was a pie or a bottle of cheap $11 Sawmill Creek wine from the Keg. I found the same bottle in a store after. Really? That's all they offered? I spent over 1000$ on a room and they couldn't even make sure it was clean? Absolutely unacceptable! It took them over 2 hours to come remove the items, and when they brought us the wine, the glasses weren't clean either. I'd expect this at a cheap motel, NOT a fancy resort hotel. We won't stay here again. They totally ruined the trip, and I advise you to go anywhere else. The front desk staff were totally unsympathetic. SCAM ARTISTS!

The bus to downtown stops right outside, and the ski shuttle picks up and drops off here, which was great. The staff were awesome too. The building is dated and could use a renovation, plumbing included. Avoid the lower floor or a room across from the pool if chlorine smell bothers you.
