Four Points by Sheraton Barrie

We paid over $200 for one night, then had to dig our car out after snow removal left a wall of snow about four feet high behind it and other cars. Staff said they'd find maintenance, but they had no radios and had to look for him in person. They eventually told us someone was outside, but it was another guest. After that mix-up, I asked for a shovel and waited while they searched for one. I cleared the car myself in about 15 minutes, and maintenance appeared just as I finished. I don't mind shoveling, but I do mind being left to deal with a problem caused by their snow removal and getting no timely help. There was also toilet paper stuffed into the smoke detector in our room, probably because previous guests had been smoking. Staff looked at it and said they'd take note. We removed it ourselves and wondered how the room had been cleaned without anyone noticing that wad of paper. This felt more like a motel than a hotel, and I wouldn't stay here again.

I've used this hotel a few times for business and keep choosing it because it's just off Highway 400, with lots of parking on site. The staff are friendly, the rooms are clean and spacious, and breakfast is pretty good. I'd happily stay here again.

We spent one night here and found it noisy. Footsteps from above and water running in rooms nearby, upstairs, and downstairs all carried through. In the morning, we went looking for coffee in the lobby, but the pot was empty and nobody seemed interested in making more. At check-in, the front desk employee barely spoke to us and didn't greet us. Since it was before 3 p.m., she wouldn't even check whether a room was ready. We asked her to take our name and number and call if one opened up sooner. Only then were we suddenly able to check in, though she said management doesn't like early check-ins.

I barely slept because I could hear people all night and into the morning. The walls seem paper thin, and at these prices the lack of basic soundproofing is frustrating. It costs a premium but feels like a budget stay.
