Super 8 by Wyndham Barrie South

We stayed here on the way to Blue Mountain, which was about an hour farther on. The rate was a quarter of what we would have paid there, leaving money for other expenses. The king bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean, and the shower got very hot. There was regular and decaf coffee, and plenty of major eateries nearby. Breakfast was nice, with a hot option as well as the usual continental food, fruit, juice and cereal. For a two star hotel at these rates, Super 8 was an enjoyable place to stay and a sensible use of our money. Just set your expectations to match the price and rating.

The staff were friendly and attentive, and the rooms are a good size with the usual amenities. There are restaurants and shops all around, and the hotel is just off HWY 400. For the price, it's a really decent place. There's also a small pool and workout room. Breakfast in the nook is the usual fare, served from 7-10am on weekdays.

The hotel was warm and cozy throughout, and the hot breakfast had a good selection. The location worked well for us, close to family restaurants and shopping. Our spacious room had a nice seating area, a microwave, fridge, a separate place to make tea or coffee, and an iron. The shower was okay, with a strong flow of hot water. Reception was friendly, efficient and helpful, and they even cleaned my room although I hadn't asked, which was a bonus. I was headed for Blue Mountain and saved a lot by staying here instead. I'd recommend it and would stay again if I'm in the area. Keep up the good work.

Our vehicle broke down near Barrie, so we had it towed to the Honda dealer beside the Super 8. The staff were amazing about helping us, especially with our three little kids. Breakfast was free and included waffles, and the pool was warmer than at most hotels. Given what we paid, it felt like great value, since breakfast at a restaurant probably would have cost us $75.
