Best Western Plus Bathurst Hotel & Suites

We had a pleasant night here in August 2025 during a family trip through seven cities in five provinces. The problem came after we got home and I saw the room had been charged twice. I understand mistakes happen, but nobody has put it right. On Tuesday I called and spoke with Miranda, who apologized and said she could see the duplicate credit card charge. She said she’d tell her manager Kelly the next day. I asked for Kelly to call Wednesday to confirm the refund, but heard nothing. I called again and spoke to Cameron, who said Kelly would arrive within half an hour, and I left a message. No call came Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. I sent an inquiry through Best Western Hotels online Friday night. Today, Saturday, I got a blank email from Best Western. We stayed at several chains on this trip, including Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott, and Best Western. Setting the hotel itself aside, this treatment of a guest is disgraceful. I’m still hoping someone from Best Western corporate or the local hotel will explain what happened.

I’m here for work once a month, and the missing in-room coffee makers have made these visits a lot less pleasant. I used to love having coffee without going downstairs half-awake in my pajamas. For many of us coffee addicts, caffeine comes before even getting dressed. I hear the hotel recently changed hands, and the new owners removed all the machines, so now I have to leave my room before coffee has turned me into a human. It feels controlling, and frankly cheap. I don’t want to be around people before my coffee, and they don’t want me around either, I’m a literal Gremlin. I’ll enjoy staying at the Best Western Bathurst much less now. For personal trips to Bathurst, I’ll book somewhere with a coffee maker in the room.

The pool and gym were very clean, and the hotel is nicely appointed and clearly well looked after. Breakfast was kept in unusually good shape too. The gentleman looking after it took obvious pride in making sure the area was at its best.

Clean, quiet rooms and a friendly welcome at reception. The one issue is that the hotel isn’t pet friendly. We didn’t bring our dog on this trip, but normally we do. Other hotels are more accommodating, so we’ll take our business there in future.
