The Ashwood

Our family really enjoyed the stay. There was lots of room for the kids to play basketball, and it made for a great getaway. It is a bit out of the way and was pricey on Expedia, so we'd suggest calling them directly to get a better deal.

Of all the places I've stayed on work trips around the GTA and southern Ontario, this is my favourite hotel so far. The service is great, and the place feels quaint, like being a kid again at my grandparents' cottage by the lake. It's comfortable, cozy, and safe, with good energy. I slept just like I do at home.

We had an enjoyable weekend getaway here in June, and it's a great place to stay around the Bayfield/ Goderich area. The indoor pool and sauna were nice, and there's a lovely outdoor patio for sunshine or a summer evening under the stars. The DJ running a patio dance party was awesome! The hotel and rooms are a little dated, though not unkempt. The on-site bar and restaurant had a very limited menu, with only Indian cuisine. It was a bit of a bummer that there was no vending machine, since we hadn't brought snacks and the location was pretty remote. We'd stay again if we're in the area.

We didn't stay at The Ashwood Inn, but stopped for a meal during a day trip on Lake Huron while using Bayfield's only working EV charging station. The other station, behind Bayfield's Public Library/Post Office, seems to have been out of order for some time. For a popular tourist destination, the option at The Ashwood Inn, about 1km from the library, was the only one available. Contact the front desk staff to start charging your EV. The Indian food was wonderful. We tried the butter chicken with nachos and spring rolls, and everything was delicious and prepared quickly. They have many Indian dishes and desserts. Staff were friendly and may be a single family. Local art is displayed in the dining room, the front desk display in the lobby is very interesting, and the surroundings are very clean. $$
