Village Scandinave

It’s on a rural road a little way from town, but the peaceful, beautiful setting made it worth the trip. I can see why people use this place for retreats. The lodging was quaint and roomy, simple but comfortable, with a full kitchen and a large bathroom with a relaxing shower. There were enough beds for a family of four: a pullout sofa, a single bed in the living area, and a queen in the bedroom. The service was excellent, too. We booked online after the place had closed for the night, then called the staff number on the door. Someone helped us find the suite key and assisted with checkout and information about the accommodations in the morning.

The owners were really nice, and the rustic condo looked great and smelled pleasantly of cedar. It was pretty clean, too. The soundproofing was the one problem. Our neighbors stayed loud until 1:30 a.m., so I could barely sleep.

It’s a lovely spot for a peaceful weekend away, quiet but still close enough to Shediac. The rooms were clean and spacious. I didn’t get to try the spa, but everything else was great. There’s also a big, friendly dog who comes to greet you!

Being near Shediac was great. The rooms were clean and quaint, and the kitchen was really useful, though it only had a few dishes. We didn’t get any housekeeping during our stay, which was disappointing, even though there was an envelope for leaving the staff a tip. The spa is a joke: it costs $20 to use the hot tub, like the supper 8 charging people to use its pool. The gentleman in the office doesn’t speak English, so it was a good thing I speak French.
